Week 7: Online Poker Update

Author : ericlass, Posted on: 24.02.2009

\"week7-1\"

This past week was not the best poker I have played so far this year.
I ended up losing $25.05 playing Sit-n-Go Turbo\’s ranging from $3.45 to
$16 thanks to one big late cash.  The first tournament I played in was
a 27 seat tournament and ended up taking 19th.  I played good starting
hands and ended up running up against a pocket pair 2 hands in a row in
which my opponent caught trips both times, which ended up knocking me
out of the tournament early.

Break Even Point in SNG Tournaments

Author : ericlass, Posted on: 20.02.2009

While playing some tournaments last week and this week I thought of
losing streaks and how they can affect you bankroll.  This week I am
playing in the $3-$5 range of turbo tournaments and I got to thinking
about how many tournaments I could lose, but win one, and still make
money.  In other words, how many tournaments could I not cash in and
still be in the black from winning one tournament?  It\’s actually
pretty easy to figure this out.  All you would do is take the top prize
for a tournament and divide that by the buy-in and you get the number
of tournaments that you could not cash in and break even (your break
even point).

Week 6 Online Poker Update

Author : ericlass, Posted on: 18.02.2009

This week was a record breaking week for the second straight week,
although last week was a record loss this week is a record profit of
$141.40.  I played all turbo tournaments this week that cost $6.50 each
to buy in.  My goal was to win the SNG Leaderboard on Poker Stars for
the $5-$9 division (aka \”battle of the planets\”).  I started out pretty
good and had a poor last few tournaments.  I made the top 100 though
finishing in 89th place with 413 points.  The winner of the division
had 548 points.

Help Make Online Poker Safe and Legal in the U.S.

Author : ericlass, Posted on: 18.02.2009

\"ppalogo\"

If you are reading this blog regularly, you probably care about how
safe your money is while playing online poker, and would like to see a
world (United States) where poker is legal.  Well, so do many other
people.  ThePoker Players Alliance (PPA)is trying to do just that by promoting laws and regulations to
lawmakers that this game is indeed a game of skill.  Now really, if
it\’s not a game of skill why are so many people making a living playing
poker?  The answer is clear, because it IS a skill game.

Bankroll Management Strategies Part 2

Author : ericlass, Posted on: 13.02.2009

In Part 2 of this 2 part series on Bankroll Management Strategies, I
will go more in depth on playing the correct stakes, specifically for
the most popular types of games like Sit-n-Go (SNG) tournaments and
some more general guidelines.  If you haven\’t read Part 1 of Banroll Management Strategies,
go and read that first and come back to this post.  Like I stated in
part 1, it is very important to start at the right stakes for your
bankroll in order to have the best chance of winning and not going
broke, getting frustrated with the game, and giving up just because you
had one losing week of poker.  Maybe if you played the right levels for
you it could have made the difference?
